Kaiju Studios and Trade Works Japan are honored to receive a 2011 Good Design Award (G-Mark) from the Japan Institute of Design Promotion for the Stick and Lapel pens. For award information on the awards, visit the Lapel and Stick pen award pages.
Kaiju Studios and Skyline Design, a leader in architectural glass and mirrors, launched the Blink collection of mirrors at ICFF in New York this May. The collection of mirrors uses graphic patterns to explore the dimensionality and transformative nature of reflective glass. View the press release and the project page for more details.

Kaiju Studios is pleased to announce the release of 3 new pens for Trade Works Japan, a producer of stationary and gift goods. The Lapel Pen features an oversized clip for binding documents and uses a simple twist of the tip to retract the ball point tip. The Loop Pen is a small pen that utilizes a silicone rubber strap with a magnetized clasp to clip documents, and can also be attached to the tail of the pen or to a refrigerator or other metal surface. The Stick pen is a simple yet playful ballpoint with a colorful array of plungers that break the archetype of the retractable pen.

Elements of Yoga™ is a new company developing products and services to expand the awareness and practice of Yoga. We designed and built their web site, and are looking forward to the release of Craig and David's very cool products.
We partnered with Cascade Sports to create a new web presence for their newest venture, The Messier Project. The Project's goal is to raise awareness of the dangers of concussions in hockey and to promote their new helmet that dramatically improves protection and performance on the ice.

Chris Specce, lead designer at Kaiju Studios, is showing his "Paper Flashlight" piece in the American Design Club's exhibit "Hue Are You," a collection of work focusing on color. The opening of the show is March 20th at Future Perfect in Brooklyn NY.
The Airia Desk and Media Cabinet have won the 2008 Good Design Award. The Chicago Athenaeum has been awarding the Good Design awards since 1950, and brings together an international jury to select the top product and graphic design achievements around the globe annually. We're excited to have the Airia as a winner in the furniture category in the awards 59th year. Details here.

Kaiju Studios was selected to show our new i/o Desktop Organizer at the Design Within Reach M+D+F show at the Providence showroom on Wednesday, April 30th. We'll have more information online on the i/o Organizer shortly.
Studio director Ayako Takase spoke on February 20th at an event organized by the Noguchi Museum in New York City as part of a panel discussing Japanese Modern and how it relates to and impacts their work. Along with Ayako was architect Tim Culbert and artist Mimi Oka, with moderation by art critic Phil Patton at the Center for Architecture. Thanks to all who made it.

Kaiju Studios and long time collaborator, Masako Miyazaki, recently created the identity, characters and web presence for Kensuke Watanabe's Delta Studio and his Japanese educational program, Problem Solving Kids. Watanabe recently published a book on integrating problem solving into the education of youngsters, and is currently conducting educational programs with students in Japan.
Kaiju Studios developed a number of patterns for Tradeworks, a Japanese goods producer. Our Work section has more details and images of the "modern Japanese' themed designs and products.
Our friend and bag and accessory designer Nam Kim asked us to redesign her site which we launched originally in 2003. The new NamKim.com now sports a fresh updated design and improved product browsing, along with improved tools for administration of the webstore and news sections.
