Kaiju Studios created the Arch folding chair as a compelling wooden folding chair that would suit both formal and relaxed settings. The motivation was both professional and personal- professional as we were compelled by the challenges a folding mechanism presents to the design, and personally as we were less than enthusiastic with the rental seating options available for weddings and other occasions. These desires led us to a design where the legs flow together uninterrupted, eschewing the overlapping and disjointed look of most folding wooden chairs. The unique concealed pivot and flared joint allude to the transformative nature of the chair, a design element that is both discreet and a point of interest. The armrest is both comfortable but subtle enough to be suitable for dinning purposes. When folded, the Arch chair nests front to back, allowing a space efficient stacking horizontally.
